Fujifilm X-H2 vs. X-E4: How Do They Compare for Travel?
Close to two years ago, I wrote a post about the Fujifilm X-E4 and why that camera was great for travel. At that time, I had been using the X-E4 for over a year and had used it on many travel destinations. Since I had moved from a two-camera setup while travelling down to using only the X-E4, I felt I had enough experience with the camera to say it was one of the best I had owned and used for my travels. There were numerous reasons why.
Fujifilm X-H2: How to Save a Film Recipe
Fujifilm film recipes are a combination of customized settings used to capture photographs in unique and original ways. The Fujifilm X-H2, released in September 2022, has standard film simulations “built-in,” allowing you to replicate certain film stocks or looks. The X-H2 includes Provia/Standard, Velvia/Vivid, Astia/Soft, Classic Chrome, PRO Neg. Hi. PRO Neg. Std, Classic Neg., Nostalgic Neg., Eterna/Cinema, Eterna Bleach Bypass, Acros, Monochrome, and Sepia.
Fujifilm X-H2 Setup: Travel and Street Photography in Barcelona
Travelling to Barcelona, I wondered what and how I wanted to capture. First, I wanted to be able to capture everything as sharply as possible, and that meant I had to sacrifice something. As I wanted a minimum shutter speed in all conditions, the ISO would inevitably need to increase based on the lighting conditions. Second, I wanted to shoot “blind.” The X-H2 has an articulating screen that makes it easy to shoot without looking at your subject.
Travel Light: My Perfect Gear
My travel season is heating up, and I will be in Barcelona until early next week. I did have plans in January to escape the cold weather of Atlantic Canada, but unfortunately, things were not meant to be, and that trip never happened. I like to travel light, as minimizing what’s available benefits my photography. The restrictions allow me to concentrate on getting the photo instead of considering what camera or lens to use.
Westcott Ice Light 2: The Best Light Painting Tool for Car Photography
I’ve written numerous posts discussing automotive light painting. That includes the techniques and tips I believe will make your light painting most successful and the tools I use for light painting cars. Most of my light painting tools, including the Westcott Ice Light 2, my primary light source, have been in my repertoire for years. With the imminent release of the Ice Light 3, I thought it would be a good time to look back on the current Ice Light 2.
When Spending More Makes Sense
Today, Fujifilm announced the X100VI, replacing the X100V, the hugely popular camera model that became a social media legend. As more people embraced the exceptional camera and did so quickly, it sold out everywhere, and prices for second-hand examples were sometimes double the value of a new model. People were paying massive amounts to get their hands on an X100V.
Fuji XF23mm F2: A Non-Technical Review
Having experience with the 35mm f/2, I believe the 23mm f/2 fits well with what I like about a lens: compactness. I like small, discreet lenses, and I wanted something wider than the 35mm that would still fit the bill. I was considering one of two wider lenses, the 16mm f/1.4 and the 18mm f/1.4. After testing both, I found they were too wide, a bit larger than I hoped, and ultimately too expensive.
Fujifilm X-H2: New Camera, First Impressions
In December, I mentioned that I was parting ways with my Fujifilm X-E4, a camera that I adored using. I have owned that camera for nearly two years, which has been with me on many travels. Still, I have been considering upgrading the camera for months now as there are a few features that I was missing in the X-E4.
How to Choose the Right Camera for Travel
Travelling is a beautiful thing. It is a remarkable opportunity to explore new places, relax and recharge. When travelling, packing light is often a priority, but it can be a stressful experience right up to the day you leave for your travels. This is especially true when it comes to your camera gear.
Fujifilm X-E4: Time to Say Goodbye
My adoration of Fujifilm’s X-E series started with the X-E2 almost a decade ago. I used it as my secondary camera during travel, with the Canon 5D Mark II as my primary. The X-E2 was a fine choice when I didn’t want to use a larger, heavier, more obvious camera. I still have favourites from that camera.
