2019 Range Rover Velar Photo Shoot

2019 Range Rover Velar

This Range Rover Velar is the latest photo shoot for a listing for Turo, the car-sharing marketplace. We had a great location and what was forecasted to be an amazing sunset. I was looking forward to spending some time with this vehicle. Here are a few photos from that shoot.

What is the Range Rover Velar?

The Range Rover Velar arrived in the Summer of 2017 and was the fourth model in the Range Rover line. It was introduced as a sportier option than other Range Rovers with a priority focused on luxury, on-road capabilities, and style. The Velar uses an eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive to power a selection of engine choices, and this particular model, the R-Dynamic HSE, features 380 hp, and 332 lb-ft of torque.

There are various reports of when the name “Velar” originated. However, all reports agree that the name comes from Land Rover’s prototypes and the need to hide such prototypes during production. It is derived from the Latin velaris, which means “to veil or cover.”

The Photos

The Velar is a luxurious option from Land Rover and worked well in this chosen location. We arrived on-site at the perfect time as the sun was low in the sky; the light was good, and it would only get better. I chose to shoot mainly into the light to utilize the long shadows and capture the bright environment, and I was going for a warm and bright feel for these photos. This was also evident in the post-processing as I pushed the highlights close to being blown out, reducing the shadows and contrast while increasing the warmth overall.
